Ron was born in Booneville, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with an undergraduate degree in philosophy and business administration. He attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2001. During law school, Ron served as the Mississippi Cases Editor for the Mississippi Law Journal. He was the awarded the Mississippi Law Journal Award by his peers, and served as an Executive Board Member on the Moot Court Board. Ron served as a judicial law clerk for Justice Kay Cobb on the Mississippi Supreme Court between 2001 and 2002.
He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 2001, and is admitted to all Mississippi state and federal courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
